The Department of the Quindío, earth full with tradition, landscapes and green multicolored, privileged corner of Colombia, is definitively a tourist destination of quality for its visitors, the best in its nature that can offer this beautiful country. Limit to the north with that of Risaralda, to the east with Tolima, to the south with the Valley of the Cauca, and to the west again with the Valley of Cauca.

Quindío, Colombian department of natural charm and tourist amenity, the andes where the visitor will be able to meet with countless options for his distraction. Quindío is for excellence the green region of Colombia–among coffees, guamos, roses and guaduales–and it emerges as the most splendid of the landscapes that exist to exalt the nature and the human values. Quimbaya

It is a tribute of the Bank of the Republic to the culture Quimbaya, which takes their name proudly. Designed by architect Rogelio Salmona, it was inaugurated in 1986 and that same year it received the National Prize of the Biennial one of Architecture (1986-87).

The visitor will observe more than 2.000 goldwork pieces and ceramic with elements of the archaeological area Quimbaya (Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda and north of the Valley of the Cauca). In the Museum of the Gold you will find Infantile Room, Center of Regional Documentation, outdoors of Conferences, Room of Exhibitions and theater.

Salento:
 
 

Salento is the oldest municipality in the Quindío, with typical architecture of the settlers antioquenos. The palm of wax–declared national tree of Colombia–it will be able to be admired in the valley of Cocora that is part of the natural reservation of Acaime, where it is a great flora variety and fauna. The ten kilometers of open highway that lead from Salento to the valley of Cocora run parallel with flowing of the crystalline waters of the river Quindío. Cocora is a valley in soft decline, located to 2.000 meters high. Their temperature average is of 15 centigrade degrees.

They are two the world superlatives that it shows this plant: it is the palm that grows to the biggest height on the level of the sea of the planet in the first place (3.000 meters), and, in second place, it is the palm but high of the world (it can end up elevating their trunk until the seventy meters, equivalent height to that of a building of twenty floors).

Taking like base Salento, or even Armenian, it can visit the valley in one day. The trout plate is of having forced tasting.


Panaca:
 


In the municipality of Quimbaya it is the National Park of the Agricultural Culture that understands interact park. Their main attractiveness are: the tower mirador–with 18 meters high and built in mangle and guadua. From there you will be able to contemplate the municipalities of Armenian, Montenegro, The Tebaida, Buenavista and Córdoba; the Pueblito Quindiano that recreates the typical architecture of the coffee towns; a replica of the station of the railroad of Armenian–(republican construction that dates of 1926)–; the Rural House and the Bridge of Arriería–fundamental in the development of the regions colonized in the Colombian occident at the end of the XIX century.
